Meet The Marshall Band

A trusted wedding band with real history

Phil Rostance & The Marshall Band are a five-piece wedding band based in Nottingham, with a background rooted in friendship, live performance, and a clear sense of purpose. The band was originally formed in 2009 for a one-off tribute concert honouring Lance Corporal Paul Sandford, a close friend of two members, with the event raising funds for Help for Heroes. What began as a single meaningful performance developed naturally into a band that now performs regularly at weddings and celebrations across the UK.

At the centre of the band is a focus on creating packed dance floors and an inclusive atmosphere. Their repertoire is built to work across generations, blending pop, rock, Motown, blues, and country influences in a way that feels familiar and celebratory without being rigid or overproduced. Performances are structured to build momentum through the evening, encouraging guests to get involved while still respecting the flow of the wedding day.

One distinctive element of the band’s wedding offering is a forty-minute Swing and Rat Pack–style solo set performed before the first dance. Featuring material associated with artists such as Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Michael Bublé, and Jamie Cullum, this set provides a smooth and relaxed transition from daytime celebrations into the evening reception. For earlier in the day, the band can also provide a sixty-minute acoustic set, well suited to drinks receptions or background music during photographs.

All evening bookings include a full live band performance alongside an interim disco service, removing the need for a separate DJ. The band supply professional sound and lighting suitable for venues of up to 250 guests and provide the documentation commonly required by venues, including public liability insurance and PAT certification.

With a strong emphasis on organisation and communication, Phil Rostance & The Marshall Band work to ensure couples feel supported throughout the planning process, allowing the music on the day to run smoothly and confidently.
